Re: Swaziland Snakebite Symposium

A few people have registered from that side of the world. Do you prefer to use your own vehicle or are you prepared to catch a lift with one of the other guys/gals?

Re: Chinese whispers ... the Blaylock myth

Love all you clever people!
Using a pressure bandage might be the most effective first-aid technique but it’s still not a viable option for most people in the rural areas.

Snake ID, First-aid and Handling course

It's been a while so not quite sure where to post this question....

Someone has contacted me from Bloem, he would like to attend a course. Does anyone know where and whom in the Bloem area offers the ID, First-aid and Handling course?

Re: Puppy vs Puff adder

Shneaky why not? There is so much left to learn! Just read this debate and you will see how passionate people are about this subject. A member on this forum, a friend, tutor and role model and I, beg to differ. You see, many people who debate this subject don't always understand or even comprehend h...

Re: Antivenom wanted

Yesterday morning I logged onto SA Reptiles for the first time in ages, the first post I opened just happened to be this one. The desire to respond in anger was intense...I decided to follow my own advice so made a cup of tea, walked outside and kicked the dog (not really) and watched my birds have ...

Re: TONIGHT VENOM HUNTER

BV it's one thing to make exciting documentaries but when you leave the hosts answering difficult questions from nature conservation, then something is very wrong. Pressure from producers, budgets and playing for the audience is understandable but not when you have no regard for the people who make ...

Busy watching Don in Swaziland, there isn't one truthful minute in the entire episode. What a disappointment.

Re: Total destruction!

LOL Froot , you are so right!! Sometimes it just "delicious" but felt bad about this one. We have caught quite a few snakes at this house (think about four mambas over the last year or so). Alta rehabilitates animals - at the moment she has a monkey, dassies, a fox (I think its still there...

Re: WHO Guidelines 2010

Spent the day reading the references etc but there are still a few issues I have to digest: 1. 100 ml for a spitter bite - we don't have enough antivenom to go around as it is. With 80% of current bites here in SD being spitter, how are we going to manage? I have seen the destruction first-hand, and...

Total destruction!

Had a good giggle with this one...we looked for it for ages and finally found it in the base of the bed. The tongs kept on getting stuck in the material so we had no choice but to cut the bed to pieces. The room and bed once we had finished. http://www.sareptiles.co.za/gallery/albums/userpics/11315/...
