Re: Servals, Caracals and the law

We had a serval when I was growing up... I could say a hundred great things about him, but I won't because there were a thousand more drawbacks. Though he was handraised from a two-day old fluffball and given our full attention for months of his early development, he was not tame. He'd tolerate a bi...

Re: my new leopard gecko

Very cute! But is that sawdust in the cage? It's a HUGE no no, rather put in a substrate that he won't be able to swallow when he eats, like carpeting or even some pretty slate tiles. Enjoy the gecko!

Re: Chilean Rose strange behavious

A lesser known fact about the Chilean rose is that it frequently goes on hunger strikes... sometimes lasting up to 2 years. Leave it in a place where it won't be bothered for a while and try again in a few days. It may be moulting too.

Re: Moving back to Nelspruit.

Will be cool to have you down here! You don't by any chance keep tarantulas? They are becoming very popular here.

Re: Breeding hinged tortoises?

My pleasure. I don't think there would be too much of an issue with releasing babies but maybe just have them checked over by a vet for any parasites or diseases they may have picked up while in captivity - it is great of you to be thinking of giving back to the ecosystem. All the best with this pro...

Re: WIN WIN WIN

Snakes: Masters of stealth, secrecy and camoflage often go completely un-noticed, even when they are right under our noses.

I like No. 1... the green and black colours really make the boa jump out at you.

Re: First corn snake : Help needed

You sound like you are off to a pretty good start. Definetly stay away from gravel though... it can cause some problems, rather stick with the newspaper for now. Getting into winter now it's a good idea to get your snake a heater pad but unless the temperature is very low in your area already you sh...
