That's a Raucous toad, they sound a little like ducks quacking in chorus - you've probably heard them at night as they are breeding at the moment.

Hi Vandepor, just like jka said...mole snake no doubt. Here is a picture of a cape cobra. Notice how when the head is lifted the neck area actually gets flattened and spread horizontally. All snakes can lift their heads up (that's how they get up into bushes etc.) but not all can flatten the neck re...

I wouldn't quite say all over the southern suburbs. But I am aware they are in certain spots -I'd just not heard of them from Constantia. There is a lot of work being done to try and determine if they have any impact on the arum lily frog. I'm interested to hear if this was recent or a long time back.
