Ertpeton

Hi guys. Long time no post. Here's some great phone footage complements of my wife, of our tentacled snakes feeding. Right now it's the only species I'm keeping. I have 2.3 set up in a planted tank and BOY!! Do these guys feed! I'm giving them indigenous SE Asian species of fish and each one eats an...

Re: Husbandry photos

Oh and also shots of different types of handling equipment and techniques: good and bad

The reproduction size of these will be small so a decent quality jpeg should suffice and can be emailed to me at damien.egan@alainzoo.ae

Re: Psammophis schokari bite

Nope. The heavy feeling was local. 'Heavy' was a bad choice of words, but the muscles felt similar to the way they might after a workout.

Re: Psammophis schokari bite

I could, but it looks exactly like the other arm. Absolutely nothing and symptoms fading now. More of an itching, pins and needles feeling now.

Re: Psammophis schokari bite

Nothing like that, but tingling and a hard-to-describe heavy feeling akin to what I had once with a big Boulinger's garter snake.

Psammophis schokari bite

Happened two hours ago on my left wrist. These snakes almost never bite but the specimen in question (now languishing in ethanol) was a road-injured animal and clearly in pain (so I forgave him, then killed and pickled him). No swelling or discoloration, but a notable tingling sensation across the w...

Re: Hi and random update

Thank BV

I'm looking to collect at least one pair of live specimens to breed, but I'd feel obliged to send blood to WW with such a seldom-found animal.

Re: Hi and random update

BV I have very specific locality data on the most of the UAE specimens found, but they are exceptionally rarely seen and are only known from a dozen or so findings. In Oman they are found more regularly near the summit of Jebel Akdhar, and on the Musandam Peninsula above 100m. Apparently they are re...

Re: Hi and random update

'was it warm?' he asked.

:smt025 :smt010 :smt013 :smt004

It probably dropped to about 30c at 3 am BV and that's at 1100 meters above sea level!! I live in suburbia at the foothills and 50c is not considered abnormal. The Uromastyx can be seen in midday in this stuff!

Re: Hi and random update

BV I've found every known species in 'the sand'.

This wildebeest and the other large group of nothings all were found in the high mountain.
