Re: Chameleons in Johannesburg?

Marcel would be your best bet at this stage. He is still active in chameleon keeping and breeding. Also he might help you out with a male to pairup with the female.

Don't bombard the guy with calls. Maybe just send a whatsapp saying you're looking for a panther. 078 632 7165.

Re: Captive breeding of Veiled Chameleons

Did you post the advert in a krugersdorp community group? I may have seen it. I also breed chameleons in roodepoort. There will be people purely against animal keeping but those that are accusing you of doing it illegally are very misinformed, most pet shop owners don't know exotic chameleons can be...

Re: Chameleon

As far as I know, reptipets is looking to breed their own chameleons and they are only going to consider selling that male if they can get something crazy like R2200 for him (that's without caging) I am buying a couple chameleons at the moment and I should have a young adult male to sell. PM me and ...

Re: Advice needed from breeders and pet sellers

Rather than leaving people still not aware about the correct care for the animals I felt better to inform them, even if it involved continually answering calls and texts for an entire week. In the end youre left with the satisfaction of knowing your animals are in good homes. And also communicating ...

Re: Advice needed from breeders and pet sellers

I made up my own mini-caresheets for the animals I was selling and I would send it to the people interested in what i was selling and I also informed them on the costs involved with caring for the animal all its life time. From that my customers asked me many more questions and purchased many things...

Re: Learning genetics

When it comes to these things you learn a lot from what you start with. Its always good to start with some fairly simple morphs and from that - and with reference to information you can find on the net- you can begin to understand the basics about their genetics. Desired traits can be produced by un...

Re: Rhynchophis boulengeri

Thanks Westley, freshwater fish was my next attempt with her. The reason why I didn't raise the temperatures straight up around 28 degrees is because I'm worried that I could suddenly change their behaviour. I don't want them to go into 'breeding mode' by making sudden changes in temperature and hum...

Re: Rhynchophis boulengeri

Scenting with geckos and making the mice bleed out of their noses didn't work for my young female. The big female seemed keen when I offered her a bleeding mouse as you suggested Paul. But I am going to try what worked with my young female and we'll see from there. Otherwise I'll further increase th...
