Something Different from West Africa

I found this Perrotet's Skink, Trachylepis perroteti whilst out for a walk the other day in Mali. Pics aren't the best as the light was low and my camera kpet wanting to focus on other things. I'm looking for some more for better images. https://i.imgur.com/8qlbMFe.jpg https://i.imgur.com/A8RlywV.jp...

Re: Platannas and where to find them?

All animals in South Africa are protected... I'm sure you will look after them well.

Re: Platannas as pets.

Answered your other thread. Try and get them more or less the same size as they will eat each other. Keep the water fresh, and feed them 2-3 times a day a variety of fresh food (bug, worms, bits of lean meat), keep them at room temperature, they don't need any kind of heating.

Re: Platannas and where to find them?

Pretty much any stream, waterfilled ditch, or large puddle will have them in hordes during summer time. Best to go at night, with a cheap net (like you get at a toyshop) and a torch, you should easily find plenty.

Re: Commercial Tortoise Diet

Since tortoises get a lot of their water intake fromt he food they eat it would be inadvisable to feed them dried, pelleted food. Feed them what they are supposed to eat.

Re: Looking for a leopard tortoise

Jeanetta congratulations for taking the time to ask sensible questions. Firstly, the tortoise shouldn't be sleeping all the time, I currently have two rescues and they are active from sunrise to sunset and cover a large part of the garden on whatever mission they have. They eat a fair amount of food...

Re: Namibian Field Herping Trip November 2016

Great shots and awesome species Tyrone. I'm planning a roadtrip from Jhb to CT via Northern and Western cape, back through the Karoo in Dec, so also hoping to find some interesting things.

Why bother. Just keep them healthy and happy, keep your mouth shut and enjoy life.
