Re: Ball Python Substrate?

Newspaper is one of the best, cheap and easy to clean. Been using it for years without any problems. I completely agree! I used to keep our entire ball python collection on coconut husk, but recently (a few months ago) changed to newspaper. Cleaning really has become a breeze, because you can liter...

Re: Warning...

First of all...PHEW! I'm happy to hear that you dodged that bullet and that your babies can slither away unscathed! There have been so many instances of this happening and I think the problem originates in the combination of materials and stuff we employ. Think about it; heat, wood, plastic, electri...

The plastic mesh you see, is from interlocking shower tiles, which are available from a number of plastic outlets (Plastic Warehouse, Plastics for Africa, etc.). They're about R25 each and can easily be cut into the appropriate sizes for your incuba...

Re: Ball Python Setup: Help Needed!

Just a quick question...but, why is your thermometer all the way up there in the cage? Your ball python is on the substrate, at the bottom of the cage, so it would be best to measure the temperature on the ground. Put the thermometer on the heatpad and see what the reading is.

The Pretoria zoo's two-metre black mamba has escaped from its enclosure, and staff have been unable to find it. Here's a link to the article.

Re: Reptile Tracking Software

How does your program compare to something like iHerp ? We've been using iHerp for nearly a year now and it really is pretty cool. I also like the fact that it's cloud-based, as opposed to being 3rd party software that needs installation. If you can develop something similar, that would be totally a...

Re: Reptile Garden, Cape Town's new Display/Park

Bjorn, will it be the big 5kg blocks of coconut husk? If yes, I'll definitely take a few blocks, depending on the cost.

Re: Possible cause of IBD identified

Any time! I'm just glad that scientists can now look at eradicating, or at least treating this disease.

Possible cause of IBD identified

:smt006

Not sure if you guys have seen this or if it's been shared previously. Scientists may have identified the cause of IBD (Inclusion Body Disease) in boas and pythons. I hope they can develop a vaccine with this new-found knowledge.
