Re: Minature Pot Belly Pig

you should have a female fixed as well as when they are on heat they vocalize like crazy. you should do it around 5 months, because when they start putting on fat its a more difficult and risky procedure. house training isn't hard because they exremely intelligent. only use positive reinforcement, ot...

Re: Snakes & Expectant Mothers

i would say that the salmonella scare with reptiles is just animal welfare agencies inflating the risk to discourage the public from keeping reptiles.
birds are more of a risk, for diseases other than salmonella too. and also a young cat in the house is a risk for toxoplasma.

Re: throwing my toys!

hmmm.. i might be wrong but i dont think reptiles or rodents or fish are covered under the Animal Protections Act, and thus the SPCA would not be able to prosecute under the act. but maybe they could still do something about it. anyone know for sure

Re: Guinea Pigs Nutritious and Delicious?

guinea pigs are the best pets. I couldn't even imagine using guinea pigs as feeder animals. Reptile food is such an emotional issue. I think everyone should just treat the food animal with the respect he or she would afford to a dog or cat. Who are we to decide which species get treated how? Thats l...

Re: My Boxer

we have a german shorthairXweimeraner. She definetly has more than one screw loose. Every pup of the litter was returned. She's cost us thousands in random damages already and she has a HUGE yard and enrichment. I'll never have one again to be honest.

Re: small and furry!

well i think that the only people that will be in trouble are the petshops selling them. They get "raided" every now and again. But i also think its better because the average kid wouldn't have a clue how to keep gerbils properly and the petshops have no idea either. WRT gerbils, they love...

Re: Ethics in the kombuis

i agree that all animals deserve respect. And if you dont think the feeder animals are worthy of respect at least treat them humanely out of respect for the hobby. Allot of people still think people who keep reptiles are monsters themselves. so do us all a favour and dont give them a reason to.
