Re: Antivenom from the past

I found this box in my grandfathers house. Unfortunately it does not contain any antivenom and is missing a few things. http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx34/Ales15/DSC_0654_zpsa43cea18.jpg It does have a tourniquet, which is pretty much just a small belt, a syringe, blade, cotton wool and an inst...

Re: Mushrooms growing in cage.

I don't think the mushrooms will harm the lizards if they touch them, only if they're eaten. If it were me I would remove them to be safe just in case the lizards try to nibble on them out of curiosity. Replace the substrate as well to get rid of any spores that will just make more mushrooms. Don't ...

Re: Cape cobra?

I'd agree on cape cobra. The pointy face makes it look like a mole snake, but you said it was making a hood which means it can only be a cobra, for a snake that size.

Re: Game lodge - Afguns district Limpopo

Very nice.

That female velvet gecko is a tropical house gecko. The other gecko is indeed a velvet and is gorgeous!

Re: Tortoise ID

Your ID is correct. I suggest you phone up nature conservation, explain to them where the tortoise came from and that you want to keep it and ask them if its possible for them to give you a permit. If they say no then you can take it to Jhb zoo as intended, if they say yes then hey, you have a new p...

Re: Bearded Dragon in bad shape

These wounds are all from siblings biting at and chewing the tails and feet. All of those wounds in my opinion will dry up and heal, the tails that are damaged will dry and fall off and the bitten feet will also just fall away where the body cannot heal the damage. Those beardies will live with a m...

Re: Albino ball python value?

90% of the time a scammer will include a question about your reptile keeping experience in their first message to you, they're trying to act as if they care for the animals but for me its a dead give away. Giving too much info, such as that they were not force fed, is also a give away. True reptile ...

Re: Petshops makes me sad!

i noticed him placing a large foil heat mat inside the enclosure and not adding regulator or dimmer or any sort of instrument to control the heating. I don't know what I'm missing here but I have never added any sort of "regulator" or 'dimmer" to a foil heat mat, my snakes move close...

Re: Table Mountain

LiazerdLover wrote:Thanks Ales, did you take pictures of them?

Unfortunately not, I don't carry my camera around on table mountain because of the hobos living in the bush.
The puffadders aren't very good looking however, they're very bland.
