Certainly looks like some kind of Philothamnus or close relative. Which part of the Congo?

Re: Lake Turkana, Northern Kenya

Yeah there's been a few interesting snakes popping up around here, it's a very unique biome and the stuff up here isn't found in a lot of other places. Been finding a lot of puff adders (monsters!) and plenty of Echis as well. Hopefully in the next week or two I may have something very interesting t...

Re: Lake Turkana, Northern Kenya

Picked up two of these Prosymna ruspolii Prince Ruspoli's shovel snouts over the weekend. I only took images of the first one, interesting how much solid black there is over the head and neck, the other had a much shorter band of black ending just a few ventral scales from the neck. Very innofensive...

Re: Need info of this species

Platyoides sp are not significantly venomous to humans and have no medical importance. They are not rare, but their crepuscular nature and habits of living in tight dark spaces means they are not seen very often. I assume they eat whatever insects and other arthropods they come into contact with, be...

Re: Glass Tracks

Builders warehouse. Alternatively, use the 7mm and with the thinner glass put a strip of self-adhesive expansion foam between the two to make sure there is no gap.

Re: Please help identify species of my tortoise

If you click on gallery tab you will see a side tab on upload file. you resize your picture and upload it there and then copy the link once it is done to post it in this thread. It will also help if you tell us where the tortoise came from to narrow down a species.

Re: Rats and Rabbits

No worries. I'd happily help you out, but i've stopped supplying piglets as the demand just didn't warrant the time involved.

Re: Rats and Rabbits

You get piglets occasionaly as small as 250g (smaller than a large rat) and upwards to nearly 3kg. I know several guys who have used piglets for everything from medium pythons to large cobras and even mambas.

Re: Pond

My first thought would be commercial fisheries (Hartebesstpoort Fisheries maybe?) or some chemical supply companies.

Re: Leopard Tortoises Do's and Don'ts

Eish... Ok first of all, you can find plenty info on tortoise diets by using the search function on the forum, several members including myself have posted the info at various times. DO NOT GIVE TORTOISES TOMATO! Yes they like it, but in large amounts the acid is bad for them. They will graze on sev...
