Re: Lost Corn Snake

Snakes often escape their enclosures, and hug closely to any vertical surfaces like along the base of walls etc. Depending on where your enclosure is situated (also rack or individual enclosure), try looking around and even under it. If it is in your room, you're going to have to do quite a bit of r...

Re: New Babies

Just a quick update from the weekend. Was in the Jhb region, and stopped by the expo (Amazing animals all over the place, and a pity my credit card would max out within 10 minutes, so I dared not bring it with) to pick up a special pair of boas I had ordered from Heidi... Albino female, and het albi...

Re: I got sucked in...

Dagnabit, I did it again... As part of a deal with a good friend, Warren, I managed to obtain these Pastel Balls. The exotic pythons and boas have really got my juices flowing, and the missus really digs them too because she can handle them at least (compared to my extensive venomous collectio...

Re: I got sucked in...

Krah, I'm old enough to remember when most of the snake species (exotic and indigenous) only had one or two morphs each... There are now so many ball morphs, they have surpassed corns, boas, and pretty much everything else, and left me mind boggled. Some of the ball morphs are so subtle to my eyes t...

I got sucked in...

Well, after always telling myself that I would never get into ball pythons because they are everywhere, and everyone seems to have one, I was sucked into the balls by a really good friend of mine... I am pleasantly surprised by them and how big they are for their age, and I am pretty sure that they ...

Re: New Babies

Cleaned some enclosures last night, and just snapped some quick shots of the young ‘uns. Most of them were pretty chilled, but one was not too happy about the change of enclosures and the flashing lights Without further ado, here they are… Normal (Dark) Female http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p203...

Re: Jungle Jag and Sibling

Westley, I also love the almost complete stripe running down the spine of the sibling, and yes, the yellows on him are going to be insane, if he is looking this good at this age... The female has a stripe running down her entire belly as well (broken in places, but still a stripe of sorts) also look...

Re: The Mamba with 9 Lives ***(WARNING : GRAPHIC IMAGES)***

So, the mamba arrived at the surgery on Saturday morning, at around 8am, and Dr Lambiris had a quick external glance, and everything looked good to go. We discussed what would probably happen, and then I left and let Angelo do his thing. At around 12:30 I got a call from him, and it was not the call...

Re: 5000km ROAD TRIP, KAROO and EASTERN CAPE - SOUTH AFRICA

Dang dude. Quite a variety you have there... Think the striped weasel's camouflage worked too well. Those capies looked pretty chilled, and the second boomslang is nice.

Excellent photography, and thanks for the share.

Re: The Mamba with 9 Lives ***(WARNING : GRAPHIC IMAGES)***

In order to avoid getting hunted down and hurt by Bernice... :smt021  I received a call from Dr Angelo Lambiris early yesterday evening. The surgeries will be taking place on Saturday (30th April 2016), and if there are no complications, the mamba can be discharged on Sunday afternoon. He menti...

Re: The Mamba with 9 Lives ***(WARNING : GRAPHIC IMAGES)***

Bernice, thank you, I think... He has had 4 of his 6 antibiotic injections, and it looks like Dr Lambiris will come out of retirement for this chap (just waiting for final confirmation) for the needed operations to repair his lower jaw. He is a lot more active, and is getting his attitude back...

Re: The Mamba with 9 Lives ***(WARNING : GRAPHIC IMAGES)***

Hey Allen! Long time! It's been 2 weeks today, and I haven't known a snake to survive that long if it was injured badly enough. I have to admit that I was really surprised that the bleeding dried up so quickly, and that the wounds have scabbed over. The injuries in the mouth are still moist, and ooz...

Re: The Mamba with 9 Lives ***(WARNING : GRAPHIC IMAGES)***

Thanks everyone. Chopper, see RJG's comments, couldn't have put it better myself. and I (as well as many other genuine snake enthusiasts with venomous experience) would gladly care for this chap till the day he dies, allowing him to live in luxury for the remainder of his days. Heck, if he feels lik...

The Mamba with 9 Lives ***(WARNING : GRAPHIC IMAGES)***

*****THIS POST CONTAINS GRAPHIC PHOTOS OF A SNAKE SHOT TWICE IN THE HEAD. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED THAT IT DOESN'T LOOK PRETTY***** On Friday the 8th of April 2016, I got a call at around 12:50, about another local snake catcher that has gone out to go and catch a supposed black mamba. The snake in que...

Re: All Over Namibia

Like finding a needle in a haystack... Amazing photos Westley. Looks absolutely dead as far as diversity and life is concerned, but that place must be teeming with life that is adept at hiding in the harsh environment.
