Awesome photos man, love the one with the eye licking going on.
You just tempted me into buying some of these now.

Awesome little critters. I've been trying to find out more about them but google isn't much help. What kind of care regimen do they need? Is it similar to Leopard Geckos? They were considered extinct until sometime in the 90's so do they need any special permits or what?

They are very easy to keep, they don't need any special lights or heat.
We keep ours in Exo-Terra cages on moss. They get about a teaspoon purity mixed with Crested Gecko Diet daily, that's it, a water bowl and a few leaves and branches to climb on. They can get crickets a few times a week and we spray the cages every day or two.
They are great to keep and really cute.

Very cool!
I came very close to buying one at the expo.
I hear that they are easy to breed aswell. Is it true that if you leave the eggs in the cage where the female laid them they will hatch at room tepm?

Some people do that but I would rather not take a chance, I take the eggs out and put them in a tub with damp vermiculite and then just put that tub on a shelf or in a drawer. But yeah, room temp is fine.

These geckos were believed to be extinct until they were rediscovered a number of years ago. Some ended up in captivity about a decade or so ago and from there they took off. Originally it was believed that the males did not have tails because the ones collected never had tails. They do not re-grow the tails if they lose them in fights with other males.

The islands they occur on are cold, wet and the wind blows across them almost all the time. They do not like high temperatures or the air to dry out. They dont like stuffy cages either.

It is actually a privilege to be able to keep and breed these geckos. Luckily they are prolific breeders and the biggest problem is getting it over your heart to sell the babies.

A few more questions (I know I can google some of this but I trust you guys better than Google):

Do they have the capability to climb, or are they strictly terrestial (Like Leopard Geckos)?

Do they eat Insect or Plant Matter or is it strictly Purity and Crested Gecko Diet?

What do they go for in the good o'l S of A?

Yes, they can climb on just about anything, glass, branches and vines. Our male loves to run upside on the mesh roof of the cage. They can jump quite far as well.

Yes, they love crickets and meal worms but prefer purity. You can also mash fruit for them, just not citrus.

I saw them at the expo for about R1000 to R1300 for normals. Morphs will be up to R3500.

Wow, that red one is something!

So when are you getting Gargoyles, Eugene? ;)

Space must be getting tight, haha.

Yep, no space and I would then rather get more Cresties, they are really cool to keep.
