Day Gecko in need of treatment ASAP

Day Gecko in need of treatment ASAP

Postby Tribby » Wed Jul 17, 2013 4:10 pm

Good day

Today I found this poor Day Gecko at a local pet shop in Johannesburg.
The employees working there are trying their best to treat his foot yet the owner refuses to pay vet bills and fees!

Can anybody please help me out and maybe find the cause of this and what disease he may have, his foot seemed to be getting better last week,
but now it's become absolutely terrible!
I would pay for the vet bills and take care of the day gecko, but I'm only 21, with a low income.

Picture is below in the next comment

Please help!

Thats either needs to be amputated or that animal needs to be put to sleep. The shop owner should be prosecuted for it as well. That is a horrific injury.

Actually day geckos are quite resilient when it comes to injuries. There skin is really thin, but also repairs very quickly. It may not need a vet visit (other members please confirm). I would get a reptile wound disinfectant (about 70 bucks) and just see how it goes.

It is illegal to NOT give the animal vet care when it is required. They can be prosecuted and the animal will be confiscated.

That leg is not going to grow back. Get it to a vet !!!!!!

I agree with Bushviper.

I need to klap the owner, and demand for a vet visit.

I'll be heading back again tomorrow. It's disgraceful

You are welcome to call the local SPCA and get them to act. They will take it away of that there is no doubt.

Oops! That's why I usually wait for more experienced members to answer first, but I have heard of bad injuries healing with minimalist care in day geckos because of their ability to heal so quickly.
