legality question

Would I be right in assuming that emperor scorpions are illegal in the western cape?

hello.

Pandinus imperator is a protected scorpion. He is on the list of WA II.
but if the scorpion comes from a breed, it should not be illegal ...

Hi shamroth

I am pretty sure they are illegal along with tarantulas.

But you are allowed to go out and catch your own Parabuthus ;)

Illegal is a relative term. You do require permits for them in Cape Town and it is an open question whether they will give you one.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.
