Bactrododema hecticum

Bactrododema hecticum

Hi Guys

I found this big girl around Windhoek a few weeks back and have been keeping her since. She has been doing great, feeding on Acacia as well as Pepper Tree leaves. I hope to find a few more in the future as they are super cool.

She decided to bless me with a nice batch of eggs, which is pretty cool.

As far as I understand, they are totally legal to keep/collect here and in RSA, so if anyone finds a female which looks like she may be close to laying eggs, please contact me via PM. I might be interested in obtaining the eggs depending on species.

Here are a few pics. Hope you enjoy.

I like the unicorn horn.

The eggs. They strongly resemble seeds.

The exotic species will soon be prohibited. In this case we should really be promoting the indigenous species.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Very interesting Westley.
those eggs in the wild would be impossible to spot.
