Please help identify

Postby Primogen » Wed Jan 02, 2013 8:33 pm

I was busy locking up my work room and noticed this little guy sitting on a bucket.
I have never seen anything like it and it looks pretty awesome.

Can someone please indentify it?

Hi

It looks like a Fig Longhorn beetle. (Phryneta spinator). They are fig tree borers found almost everywhere in SA.

Size should be 27mm.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the identification, I have heard about them just never seen one before but it makes sense as our fig tree is busy dying from these guys.
I just set him free now.
