Now for something a little Rough!

Now for something a little Rough!

Postby Warren Klein » Tue Dec 11, 2012 7:10 pm

We recently visited the US to see family and friends which ended up being more of a herp trip than anything else. I have seen so many amazing reptiles recently I don't know which to share first but I'd thought I start with two of my favorites and defiantly a highlight of my trip, Morelia carinata. These little gems of the python world are in the private collection of a good friend of mine Cody Bartolini in Florida.

It was quite late at night when I saw these and unfortunately I did not get the chance to photograph these beauties as I would have liked to but I'm sure you get the idea. Hows that for SA eye candy?

Regards

Warren

I am impressed that you are not bleeding. Very nice. Now lets hope he can breed them and export them to us. Any idea of what price they went for?

You are very lucky to have been able top see these gems in the flesh, you just made me very jealous.
Do they feel as different as people say the do?

This pair was very calm and have apparently have never attempted to bite. Cody says they have excellent feeding response and have never refused a meal so far. Don't worry, I have already booked their un- born prodigy to come to SA in a few years time.

Their texture was defiantly different , similar to an Angolan python but these are obviously still small and I'm sure they will get rougher as they grow. Mitton, I was thinking about you with all the different Carpet python morphs which I have seen in the states but unfortunately I can't remember all the names so I can't post the pics.

That whole aggression thing is absolute rubbish. I have groups of these snakes and have never been bitten.

Here are a few other Morelia morphs which Cody is raising up. I spoke with him last night and got some names but I'm not 100% certain of which is which. I'm sure people like "Carpetpythons" would know for sure. Here we go, Red Coastal; Red Zebra; Red Coastal Zebra and Red Zebra Jag.

I'm quite sure this is the Red Zebra Jag, what a stunner!

Zebra and Zebra-Jags are just awesome but I still like the Roughies the best.

Thanks for posting these pics.

I thought I would show some updated pics from December of my friends M. carinata to show how they have grown. I look forward to get some of these myself one day!
