Anaconda

They belong to the family boidae which include pythons, boas and anacondas. Heat sensitive pits are also absent on the labial scales of all four species. And yes they are a species on their own.

would boa or python be the snakes genus??

Sorry, forgot to add…as they give birth they are grouped with the sub-family boinae (boas) as also mentioned. They belong to the genus Eunectes.

Some pythons i.e. Aspidites do not have heat sensitive pits.

Boidae and Pythonidae are two separate families now.

Ok, thats interesting. Anaconda's will be from Family Boidae then. (Boa)
