Living Gems is pleased to announce that on Saturday, July 20, Almandine became a Mom.

A shot of Almandine's viv from early on in the birthing process. Only a few early squirmers have made it out of the nest to explore.

A shot of Almandine's viv from late in the birthing process. Almost all of the babies are now out of the nest, as is Mom.

The pairing produced 20 babies in total. They range from 30 grams to 27 grams, with an average of 29. There were no stills, slugs, or birth defects (so far as we can tell).

More details will be forthcoming.

Thank you Tyronen, Bushviper, and Jason&Sam! Mom did a great job bringing them to a full and healthy term. She's getting a much-needed quiet spell now!
