Burm and Retic update

Postby Jamster » Sun Jun 29, 2014 11:21 pm

Hi guys,

I havn't posted any pics of them for quite a while now but I decided that maybe it is time to. I got Ripcord in March 2010 and Cleo in April 2010, so I have had them for a little over 4 years now and have never looked back! They are both well over 3 meters but I suspect ripcord (retic) is between 3.5m and 4m. They are feeding mainly on piglets and rabbits twice a month to once every 3 weeks, it just takes way to many rats to give them their fill!

First a couple of pics of when I got them in 2010, enjoy :)

You have very beautiful giants there if I do say so myself.
Every good story seems to begin with a snake.

Nice snakes but even better cages... I like the size of cages as I see many people keeping these huge snakes in tiny cages.

Very cool cages!!

Thanks foxticity. Luckily I work at an outdoor restaurant and function venue. I use the snakes for birthday party demos and education, so they have their own room. Underneath the astro is a 2.5m x1m heating pad and obviously a few spotlamps for when the retic feels like climbing and for ambient heat.

It's great to see someone taking pride in their enclosures (or should I say rooms?). The face stone makes the enclosure look like a cool cave.

Out of interest, dont you find those basking lights dry out the air in the enclosure too much, especially when it's time to shed?

I have a huge square plastic container that I put in the room on the under floor heating which keeps the water luke warm making them want to soak and boosts the humidity a bit too, I will also spray the snakes every now and then before they shed :)
