How are the German laws on keeping of wild caught herps?

Thanks guys! Westley... Sadly it is strictly prohibited to keep any wild animal in captivity here. I have not found anything about permits on the web. The only way to get hold of some would be to buy captive raised specimens. Sadly these are nearly unheard of, and hard to find because exotics are far more common.

I wonder why these are not more common in the hobby because they reach a decent size, like North American Ratsnakes, and their care seems to be quite similar to North American Garters.

It is strange, such beautifull snakes. If I get my hands on two bigger specimens I think I'll have a go at breeding them... support the declining population:-)
