Africa Clawed Frogs

Postby gekosin » Thu Oct 16, 2014 10:40 am

So almost a year ago we found some tadpoles in a mates pool, I took a few home and turns out they were African Clawed Frogs, since then i have been keeping them in a tank as pets. I am trying to cut down on the collection (hence the add currently up), is there anywhere i could possibly take them? I don't want to just release them into a pond or anything.

If anyone is interested in taking them off my hands or can suggest somewhere to take them i would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Simply release them close to were you removed them.

Technically speaking you are not allowed to keep/breed/deal with them.

Isn't it technically illegal to release them as well? And isn't there a danger for contamination because of their sensitive nature?

So basically you need to kill them if you wan't to get rid of them, at least according to the laws.

Not really because they've been isolated i would just release them.

Nope. You can keep or trade in these frogs freely in Gauteng. (Only the three Cape provinces have a problem with this) If they never came into contact with other frogs you can pop them right back where they came from.

The problem is they came from a pool which has since been emptied and is now used for actual swimming :)

Give them to someone who wants a pet. If you were closer to Pretoria I could put them in my pool which will never be swum in again. There are enough insects etc in that pool to keep them happy.
If anyone has more tadpoles or platannas for me I would appreciate that too.

Bushviper are you still interested in platannas? I found one this morning in my swimming pool. I am just around the corner from you and can drop it off there by you at any time.
