Help On I.D.

Postby rolandslf » Thu Jun 12, 2014 8:56 am

Good Morning All

Can I please have some help in identifying this snake.
I was sent the following picture of a Snake found in a house in the Natal Midlands.
The picture quality is not good at all, and the only description given, is that the snake's (Yes there were two of them together) were bright green in colour.

I recon that's the green phase of the Many Spotted Reed Snake, Amplorhinus multimaculatus.

Very cool snakes and not often seen.

Thanks Westley, the person taking the pic has an absolute phobia of snakes, so that combined with the shakes combined with cell phone camera, gave the bad quality pic.
I wonder if they could have been a pair perhaps.

Depending on locality id have to disagree with the Many Spotted Reed snakes, those snake occupy quite a niche habitat in KZN.

TBH i would have said Western Natal Green snake, look how long the tail is...
