Help With ID please

Postby sbuckley » Tue Nov 12, 2013 12:46 pm

Hi

My cat brought this little guy into the house. It is approx 30cm long and Brown with Olive Green sides and a Yellow belly.
We live in the south peninsula. Your help with ID'ing him would be appreciated and advice on where to release him would be great!

Thanks!

Sjoe, that is a very unhealthy looking Slug-eater (Duberia lutrix).

They are usually quite plump snakes so this one is really thin!

They are completely harmless and a treat to have around the garden so feel free to release it in your own garden (or maybe next door where there isn't a cat ;) )

In the future you can ID them by having a brown back, with grey sides. There should be some black speckling on the back too.

The belly is cream yellow with black lines on either side.
