Mole snake

Hey guys!

Seeing that the Free State section here is a bit on the empty side, I figured I'd add something just to show that there are actually snakes here! Sorry about t he poor quality, was taken with my phone. i.e no zoom or close up's. I found it next to the road, or rather, on the road being teased by a "boemelaar". The guy was hitting it on the head to get it to strike out at him. It is a long story, so not keen on going into another tjop abusing snakes. Was way back on the 24th of November last year. It was a moderately warm day with partial cloud cover.

It had a much more brown colour than what the pics show!

Anyway, just thought I'd share!

He was fine, just think he was playing dead. When I tried to pick him up (didn't have a hook stick with me I almost got a new piercing on my hand! ) I eventually used my fishing rod rests that I keep in my bakkie to move him, not that it made it much easier! When I put him down ago he had a go at me again and then sailed off, so I guess he was alright?! Luckilly the guy wasn't bl*ksiming it on the head, just tapping hardish?! (if that makes any sense)

Very light colored mole snake, always a nice find. Now we know there is almost something going on.
