Get some snakehooks Kwagga.
If I'm gonna be an old, lonely man, I'm gonna need a thing, you know, a hook, like that guy on the subway who eats his own face. So I figure I'll be Crazy Man with a Snake, y'know. Crazy Snake Man. And I'll get more snakes, call them my babies, kids won't walk past my place, they will run. "Run away from Crazy Snake Man, " they'll shout!”

We were contemplating getting snakehooks interestingly enough, then my Old man said they are probably expensive...

I'll keep my noise on the ground, perhaps the classifieds...

It is so easy to make one, if so I will send you 2 extras I have through the post.
But please stop killing them, killing them increases the chances of being bitten.

A snake that size can be scooped up with a spade and deposited in a bucket or try a broom and flat square container too. Killing it is just silly.

Kwagga, please. The killing has to stop. It's much easier than you think.

I have had no experience whatsoever in handling venomous snakes, but on Saturday caught a Mozambique spitting cobra- Naja mossambica, in the same area(a plot in Dinokeng North near Pretoria. Not far from Bronkhorstspruit to my knowledge.)

I was totally unprepared but managed to fashion a hook stick out of a PVC pipe and old piece of metal, and used a welding mask for eye protection !

Now I know they are not nearly as aggressive as say N. annulifera, but the advantage of such an aggressive species is that it is far more likely to be easily distracted by a second person when on the hook, making handling much easier.

I will post a photo as soon as I have access to a computer.

But please kwagga, killing is not the way to go.
The way to success has no shortcuts.

Another way to distinguish between Forests and Snouteds, is the shiny (almost wet look) appearance on the dorsal (upper) part of the Forest cobras. Snouted cobras do not have keeled scales like Rinkhals, but have a more dull appearance than Forest cobras.
