Help to identify

Postby Saci_perere » Sun Dec 30, 2012 8:48 pm

Hi there, would you help us identify this snake? We saw it on a golf course in Kosmosdal, Centurion. It was about 1,20m long.

My first thought was Snouted Cobra too, but I don't think we can rule out Rinkhals just yet.

The scales do look quite rough and possibly keeled, so maybe Rinkhals.

I also say Rinkhals, they are a lot more common in that area.

I say its a snoutie-if you look at closely you can see that his colour is dark brown on top and fades to the sides. Still that doesn't rule out the fact that its not a Rinkhals.
