Please Identify

Postby Primogen » Wed Mar 06, 2013 8:35 pm

Can someone please identify this little guy.
Found him in my Herp room and thought he looked really weird compared to the geckos I normally see
running around, his cheeks are bulging out, Is this normal or some kind of disease?
He was about 5cm+/- snout to tail tip.

Have already set him free in the garden.

That a Transvaal Gecko, Pachydactylus affinis.

The swollen "cheeks" are actually it's calcium sacks, but I do admit, those are unusually large, but probably not unheard of.

These sacks are supposed to be used as calcium reserves during time when females lay their eggs.
