I realize this is an old post, but I have not been active on the forum for a long time. I don't know if you got an ID on the little skink, but it looks like a Wahlberg's Snake-eyed Skink (Panaspis wahlbergi)

Thanks Martin, and thanks for the ID. I will most probably keep updating this thread over the next few months as the herps start to emerge and I get some time to go looking for them.

Relatives sent us pics from Vereeniging where it was snowing so I would imagine it's really cold. Think the herps might stay in hibernation for a bit longer this year since it's supposed to be the start of spring.
