Hybrid question

Postby iiviii » Thu Apr 21, 2011 10:07 pm

Hi all.

Now I know that allot of you are against hybridization, as am I, I just wanted to know whether or not you could cross a Taiwanese rat snake and a Vietnamese rat snake, as well as whether it has been done and what the result was?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Those species will intergrade or hybridise depending on which species you are referring to. The Taiwanese ratsnake has been crossed with American ratsnakes as well so this should not be difficult.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.

BV IS 100% correct. There are areas where there habitat overlaps and natural intergrades can and have occurred.
They have also been crossed in captivity.
