Het. Albino / Het. Albino House Snakes

I kept back 2 possible het. albino housie from 2 years ago breeding. The idea at the time was to put the albino gene back to normal to produce hets, so as the strenght up the gene pool, apose to breeding albino to albino year in and year out. Got 9 viable eggs, 4 albino's, 5 normals, some would be possible het for albino as well. Not bad for hets.....njoy

I have just purchased a het female. I'm hoping to pair her with my albino male.

It does at least look as if you kept the albino gene in the same group as the original albino gene and did not swop it out with other genetics.

I hate seeing people crossing the "Zululand" morph with a Gauteng female just because they dont have two from the same bloodline.

I see the word 'het' when guys post about their hatchlings. What exactly does it mean?

It means a specific snake has the "HET" gene in it but is not expressing it. So if two hets are breed together they will produce what they are het for.

For example: If a het albino and het albino are breed together they will produce an Albino.
It does get more complicated but this is just a short summary of what it is.

Aadil: Ilumo is basically green/amel, where albino is amelanistic....Butter is Green/Ilumo/amel , that it's very short and sweet.

Yes but what your ratio's are not sure, need to see if it's recessive gene or co-dominant, so far looks recessive..Amel is recessive, Green not sure if co-dominant or dominant, i have not tried to breed green to other brown phase housies, to proof dominance. Will be breeding butter to butter and Butter to Green this season, if Butter to Green produces ilumo's, then def. co-dom, so butter could be super form. If all born Green, then recessive or het. for butter. Again looking at these Butter's even as yellow as what they are, they have a green simmer in them. Unbelievable looking snake in person. Time is the factor here and i will prove this gene once and for all this coming season....now all we need is a pied, to produce butter pieds, sound good...

Out of 2011/2012 Season, ilumo on ilumo gave me 56 eggs only three butters born to date, sounds more like 1 in 16 chance of producing a butter even if you have the right genes to start with. I think Byron Zimmerman quoted the great Gary Player saying "The harder i work, the luckier i get" and that sums up my eventful reptile breeding project. Happy herping

Amazing stuff good work really looking forward to these becoming available, I Am still abit confused however, is the green capensis or fulingilosis(sorry if spelling is incorrect).
