Red headed agamas (Agama agama)???

Found this beautiful lizards in Mwane Dito in the DRC. I believe they are Red Headed Agamas? I have only seen them in Mwane Dito and in Kamina, but believe they are fairly common here in the DRC.

I actually also saw this same species in Kamina in south central DRC, especially around buildings where the roof joins the walls.

To be honest, I never found a satisfactory answer as to what species they are.

Here are my pics, although just females:

Definitely the same lizards Westley.

I'm also not 100% sure on the species.

Maybe some of our other members could help?

There are numerous species which have the red head, but I dont think A. agama is supposed to occur in the DRC, although it does occur in neighboring countries.

They strongly resemble A. planiceps from Namibia, but obviously not the same species.

Thanx Sico

I was not aware that they occur in the DRC.

This is so cool. My dad says the locals eat almost everything there including birds and rats.

Hopefully they don't eat the reptiles too!
The kiss originated when the first male reptile licked the first female reptile, implying in a subtle, complimentary way that she was as succulent as the small reptile he had for dinner the night before.
