There are a number of sangomas that keep pythons and boas and some actually do not mind paying for rabbits or guinea pigs when they cannot get rats. It is a tool and is worth a lot to them so they look after them. Others however do not go as far and their animals die and they just replace them. It would seem as if this sangoma looked after the snake he had.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.

Who sells their snake to a sangoma in the first place?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was stolen or bought from a pet shop. Snakes are so easy to get hold of these days.

Well who sells their snake to some one they do not know??? Its the same Q Durban Keeper.

It is a fact that when you sell any of your animals to someone you don't know you have no idea how they will be looked after. Like BV said, most Sangomas will look very good after their snakes, as they (the snakes) give them that extra bit of "magic" and "witchcraft" status. I would not be surprised if this snake was indeed looked after better than some snakes kept by so called "snake lovers".

So no I don't see anything wrong in them also having snakes, IF they look after them!
