Water Dragon excavation...

Water Dragon excavation...

Postby insaniac » Fri Feb 12, 2010 10:08 am

Hey guys,

Need some advice please...

My Female Chinese water dragon is scratching around the enclosure like crazy...obviously egg laying time is approaching.

The problem is, the container ( a 40cm x 25cm x 15cm ) I put in the cage with the mix of vermiculite and peat is getting empty... She is diggin like mad and throwing the stuff every which way...

I've tried refilling it, but to no avail...

Is there another more efficient way of getting a nest box to stay full ?

Compact the soil in the container, put a basking light inside the tub and close the lid. She will lay her eggs when she cant anything while she is excavating the burrow.

You have to use a bigger container. Use a 50cm X 40Cm X 50cm container. Fill it halfway with sand pit sand. Remember to compact the moist sand.
