Walked into my reptile room yesterday to find that one of my shingle backs had a baby during the night. I did not even know that the pair i had was compatible. They are monogomous so if they did not choose their mate they will not breed. This is why they are so rare in overseas collections. They also have placental births that is the dried up placenta hanging from the babies. A lot of these animals get removed from the wild and never breed after that again.

Well what an awesome suprise!! The baby is beautiful. Congratulations.

Quick Question. Do they only have one baby at a time, or do they at times have more than one?

The average is 2 but sometimes they can have 3. I dont know why people buy these animals if they dont know where they are from. Its pointless cause they will never breed if they are not compattible. Such a pity.

Wouldn't it be best then to buy them young? Possibly get 2 pairs? I think that would make much more sence than buying just one pair.

It's a pity they are not available localy and they are pretty pricey (unless you have the bucks. lol)
