Congrats Al. Your girl looks like quite a brute. Lovely red too, not common. Very very nice.

Is the suspicion that offspring would be an inbetween colour?

Thanks everyone :D

The male has been locking up with her whenever he can.... they really seem to enjoy eachs company. Not quite the case with one of my B. caudalis females, she just killed her second male...tragic & expensive :(

Hec im sorry to hear that AL, gosh that really sucks...such a pitty you stay so far, I have a spare red male which i think is from the Kalahari. anyway I would be willing to part with him...

As luck would have it my two B. caudalis just climbed into each other. I was an idiot but wont go into detail.

The male had the female and his fangs were in the top of her head and she had him by the bottom jaw.

They both seem okay and as we speak they are both eating a mouse each.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Fang penetration seems to be a thing with caudalis, male rivalry included.

Was the male much smaller than the female?

David Bird once told me that one of the Poole serpentarium gaboons bit clean through the top of a cage mates head and the victim survived.

How common is biting in gaboons and Rhinos shasring the same enclosure?

The reason I ask is that i'm in the proccess of making large brick built enclosures and was considering having all males in one and all fem' in the other

Good question...

Puff Adders seem to get along together why not Gaboons? I'll find out in the next few days ,as I just introduced my EA. Gaboons into the same cage a few minutes ago.. :shock:
