A friend took these images of a Kite attacking a Cape Cobra in the Kalagadi transfonteer national park. The capie survived because of human presense.
Enjoy.

WOW amazing photo's!!

MrG, what kind of a kite is that? I know of the yellow bill Kite we get here in Natal, is this a different type of bird that is also called or known as a kite? :smt017

The bird is a Pale Chanting Gosshawk by the looks of it. People that arn't into birds call every raptor a "hawk" or a "kite" ... same as people who arn't into snakes call every snake a "mamba" ;)

btw amazing pics Mr G, thanks for sharing :)

Great series of pictures!

I hate to say it, but it would have been even better if the cobra was taken.

When where these pictures taken, because in June or July 2010 I went to the Kalahari, saw injured Cape Cobra struggling to get up the road ledge, it's one eye was a dull white colour. One I saw was about 1.3m in length, lovely snake!

Thanks for sharing Mr G. I'm glad the snake made it! That Goshawk can go and eat something else.
