Mamba eating a pig!

Postby Bushviper » Fri Apr 16, 2010 1:38 pm

I was defrosting piglets for my retics and saw the mamba "begging" at the glass so I tossed in a piglet for him. He dragged it around in the substrate for a while and then got it by the head and swallowed it down.

I had to take pics with and without the flash because I had my hands inside his cage and he does not like the flash. He is actually quite chilled and has eaten dead food since the day Bushbaby caught him roaming through a garden in Pretoria.

Just got the head

Just the leg of pork to be seen.

Trotters showing just before I had to close the glass.

Loretta he is quite a big boy but not a record breaking specimen by any means.

I suppose you usually feed him rats. How many at a time?
He looks nice and healthy. And deadly. :-)

Awesome, thanks for the pics!
One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.

That is amazing. Are you going to keep him on piglets? Do you think he will grow faster on piglets. Ps. He is definitely not a muslim snake. LOL
