Retic RI

Postby Zander Marais » Thu Feb 11, 2010 5:19 pm

Hi all
My retic seems to have developed a whistle while breathing.
The whistle started on Monday and hasn't gotten better.
I raised the temps and took out the big water bowl.
Is there anything else I can or should do? If I have to take him to a vet, where should I take him? I'm in Vereeniging
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks, Zander

PUT THE BOWL BACK!! At once!! Retics and other tropical snakes get RI from a cage that is too dry.
It is the absolute hottest part of summer right now so I doubt your temps are too low, if anything, possibley too hot and dry. It may also have blocked nares (nostrils) due to being in the blue (about to shed). During this time the skin around the face becomes a little thicker and actually blocks the nose. This will pass as soon as it sheds its skin, if this is the case.
Those who have made no mistakes have learned nothing and can teach nothing.
The same is true of those who continue to make the same mistakes.

Pain is temporary
