Dumirl Boa Is Sick Or Being Bitten

Postby Marcel2992 » Sat Jul 10, 2010 9:20 am

Hi everyone!! Yesterday morning I took my Dumiral Boa to David Jones (Snake sit-in/ Snakeman) because the night before he asked me to bring a few non-venomous snake or 3 so he can hold a snake lol. So I took the snakes yesterday and she was 100% the afternoon I went up to go fetch my snakes because I had to go home and I noticed that the Dumiral is almost dead she was paralyzed . She pulled through the night but now she is still paralyzed and her head is shaking back in fourth and she shakes when she is moving. She has no grip when you hold her.She has some cuts on her and everybody says that it IS a Snouty but it is impossible because she was in a container. So if it is venom what should I do

Now that was a silly thing to do. There are enough non-venomous snakes at the snake park that he could have held if he wanted to.

The other thing is it is 18 degrees in Pretoria and transporting a snake without the use of a heat pad or a heating pad connected to an inverter in the vehicle is looking for trouble.

I hope your snake makes it but I would not hold my breath. If there was a bite from a snouted cobra you will see blisters at the bite site. If it was a mamba or boomslang then you will not notice it.

Yah. I live about 5km from the snake park.. The people at the park don't really care about giving him a snake/and he wanted to see it anyway. She was on a heat pad the whole day. I checked on her every our or so. She wasn't over heated as-well. There are some changes in skin formation around the ''bite/cuts'' . I kept her cool when I noticed she was maybe invenomated so it won't flow easily. I really don't know whats going on

That is pretty clear. Cooling a snake down because it has been envenomated is crazy. How did you think this was going to help?

Get your snake to Broederstroom vets just opposite the entrance to Glen afrik on the road past Pelindaba. Speak to Dr Alan and he might be able to help you.

I'm confused here ... how the heck did the snake get possibly bitten by a venomous snake?
