Amazon Tree Shedding problems

Postby Davidc » Fri Jul 30, 2010 2:48 pm

My Amazon seems to have some issues shedding. It will be her first shed since I have had her. The skin is starting to shed from the nose to about middle of her head but its been 2 days. Humidity is 70%+ and they get misted daily. Any advice.

Spagum moss on the floor with a waterbowl on a heating pad for humidity and one halfway up for drinking. Vines to perch on.

Just pop it in a small plastic container with some warm water for about an hour. Put some paper towelling in there as well. Make sure the container is ventilated.

Warm means water at 29 degrees not water warm for us to touch.

She has lost a lot of the old skin but there is still some to come off. Will put her in water again tomorrow and see how she does. Thanks for all the advice.

Ok so they have both shed. But they both have some unshed skin on them. I have soaked them for 1 hour each on 2 or 3 occasions but the shin remains. What now?

What you can do is soak them then gently take the excess skin off yourself.

What substrate are you using.

Still no luck. I have soaked them but the one still has lots of unshed skin. I have Spagum moss as a substrate. The skin does not get loose after soaking so I dont want to pull to much. They are both eating though the one with the unshed skin will not take live food.

Do not leave the unshed skin on.

If you cant remove it yourself seek help from someone who can do it for you.
