Okay, judging by legs, I would think that it is a lizard, crocodilian or tortoise.

If it's not what I would think, I am not sure what else it could be. hmmmmmmm.

I would have to guess the Banded Supple Skink, Lygosoma haroldyoungi. It's a lizard but moves almost exactly like a snake.

Good guess Wes, but still incorrect.

The next clue is, It uses its "legs" as a caudal lure.

Hopefully that makes it a bit easier.

Now that was a misleading one with the legs. They are very cool snakes.

You practically gave it a away with your second clue.

I am pretty stumped at what to ask, so anyone else who wants to post please do.

If there is no new posts by tomorrow I will then probably have something.

I have wanted to do the visual GTR again for a while now. What am I?

A word clue:

I like to keep watch over my den, like a dog looking after his yard.

Does this reptile mimic another animal as a protection measure?

So far all no's.

Primogen, it does not mimic any animal I know of.

Clue of the day: my "winged feet" helps me dig into the sandy soils which are my natural habitat.

Jamster got it!

The genus name Ptenopus means winged peet and the word clue including the word dog was reference to Barking Gecko.

Here's the image I cropped as the clue
