My new favorite Bothriechis lateralis

Postby Eyelash » Thu Jan 24, 2013 5:32 pm

I recently acquired this stunner of a snake after seeing it pop up in the classifieds time after time...

These a special vipers that we really don't see to often.

They require low temperatures unlike most other species and because of this they might be a bit of a challenge to keep alive in SA.

It's very hard to capture their blue on camera but I tied my best (most pics came out green because of the flash)...but here are the ones that came out looking goooood... :-?

I hope you enjoyed him...

Those are stunning.
Can you post a picture of there setup? if they have a setup?

At what temperature should they be kept at?
And what about humidity?

That one looks like it has been through a war. I hope it does well with you. Put a fog / misting system on top of the cage and let the fog fall into his cage. That way it gets cold and the humidity is always high. Good luck finding a mate for it.

Thanks, looking forward to seeing the enclosure.

That is a challenge, will there be an issue if the temperature goes above 22 degrees?

Very nice Louis! I would have to agree with you, this would be one of my favourite species too! Getting a mate isn’t something you have an option on, you just have to, then breed them and make us all a bit “green, blue” with envy! :-D :D
Congrats on all the new very nice additions to your collection.

That's a really nice little guy.

The temperatures are quite interesting. Do you bumate them for winter or will they breed without any temperature change?
