Some advice (Atelerix frontalis)

Postby Primogen » Sat Dec 14, 2013 9:41 pm

So earlier this week I was at a friends plot out in Muldersdrift, and during my stay there his dogs managed to kill a Female hedgehog and 2 of her pups.
We managed to get the dogs away but only 2 of the pups are still alive, I'm currently looking after them till I can give them to a park or some animal center.

My vet recommended I feed them kitten replacement milk untill thay are weened so I have been doing that, and they seem fine for now.

Has anyone cared for these before are they similar in care to the pygmy hedghogs?
Also I don't know how old they are, they currently weigh about 50grams each.

There is a hedgehog breeder in despatch near PE he is ratherwell known, I suggest phoneing 1023 and ask for Despatch Veternary clinic and ask them if they have his number. I'm sure he'll be able to help :smt006
