Hedgehog permit for the Western Cape

Postby Simone H » Mon Nov 23, 2015 12:35 pm

Hi guys
I've been searching for information on owning hedgehogs in the Western Cape for a while now and I've found that the standard "hedgehogs are illegal in the WC" is not strictly true. Various sources state that it is legal to have a hedgehog in the Western Cape as long as you have a permit.
Here are a two links where I have seen this:
I have emailed Cape Nature about a permit but have received no reply as of yet.
So, while I'm waiting what I would like to know is, has anybody actually gotten a hedgehog permit in the Western Cape?
Do any of you have a permit/know how to get a permit/know someone who got one?
If I do this, I want to do it the right way, so I would appreciate any information in this regard.
Thanks in advance!

I am a breeder of APH and have had lots of people ask about WC and as far as I know they are not allowed there.
