People are each to their own. Do think about it that people need to research and study these snakes hence why they keep them.
I have seen captives and they are actually quite nice looking snakes.

Eyelash viper,

your comment "yea i dont see why peaple would want to keep stilettos . i love all herps but they not that pretty" is like me saying -yea i dont see why peaple would want to keep Mangrove snakes(Boiga-2species), Cerastes vipera (coz I can keep Cerastes cerastes) . i love all herps but they not that pretty-

Am I rite??

Charlie, i've already re homed what i wanted too. This started long ago, you remember. After seeing and reading about Myke's stiletto snake bite i'd still keep them. So little is known about them, that its beneficial. Eyelash, i could say the exact same thing about corn snakes. They're so common now why would anyone want them? But i won't say that because my opinion isn't necessarily the same as someone who only wants to keep corn snakes. Just because a stiletto is black, and dangerous doesn't make it ugly.

Ja, but one is great in a cage, and the other needs to be admitted to an asylum. :smt017

Snake bites happen, whether its avoidable or not, and we handling them is at a greater risk, and we are well aware of the risks. When bitten, ask yourself if there is anything you couldve done to avoid the bite? I dont see why you should sell your snakes when you receive a bite. I think sometimes a wake up call is needed for guys to review their collection and and evaluate the risk of keeping the animal vs the purpose for keeping the animal.
I love my corn snakes, and they are still my favourite snakes, so are my Tai rat and Boa, they are probably the only snakes many people see when they ask to see my snakes. I love the HOTS I have as well, but they are not toys, and needs to be treated with the respect the deserve.

Did you see the Jackass2 movie on DStv ... the one scene where they locked up this guy in the back of a trailer and threw in a King Cobra ... it was scary sh*t!!!

I think they're damn irresponsible people ...

Yeah just unnessicary stress for the animal, David Weathers is a "good" role model to us all, free handling the worlds largest venomous snake. Such a "great" example to every little kid who wants to own a snake.

I caught the episode with the stiletto bite this week end, its not the snakes or bee's that freak me out, its that damn recluse\violin spider that gets me.

I have seen 1 or 2 in my house along with the ocassional sac spider.
