Potentially a face changing bite

Postby Bushviper » Sat May 07, 2011 3:23 pm

Last night I put my phone on charge in the lounge and went to sleep and did not hear it ring. This morning I saw a few missed calls and one message. I listened to the message and went ice cold.

A youngster from Pretoria took a serious bite to the lip from a puffadder !!!

I have tried to get hold of the patient but his phone goes straight to voice mail. Apparently he has been admitted to a large hospital in Pretoria but unfortunately this is the last hospital I would go to for snake bite. The manager of the emergency room told me 3 months ago that they dont keep antivenom because it is no longer used for snake bite.

I do not want to speculate how a snake keeper, who does not have a permit for a puff adder, gets a bite to the face at 10 o clock at night on a Friday night. It could have been a call out and he might have bent down to look for a snake under some furniture but other than that I cannot think of any other way you can get a legitimate bite to the face.

Either way this will leave a scar and I am sure he will be reminded of his silliness over and over for a long time.

I hope he has learned a valuable lesson here. And I hope he will feel better soon.

That's not going to be fun.
I sincerely hope it was an accidental bite, not one of the cowboy's.

Is it just me or have more venomous bites been going down with a lot more frequency.
I think so far alone we've heard of more bites on the forum the the majority of last year?

Ouch. Hope he gets well soon.

Nobody has managed to get hold of the victim. I wanted some photos but cannot find the people involved in this tragedy. If anything transpires I will let you all know.

If this is related to BV's call I would not know and this news paper is as bad as the Daily Sun.

But here goes: Sondag koerant: 'n Piksoentjie

If one looks at the photo,Image, would this be shortly after after the bite or a while afterwards?
If this is quite some time after the bite, then this guy is very lucky, if this is the start of the swelling, he may be in for quite a ride...
Either way, eina.
