hatchling Gila's are about $1200 each, but to get them in the country will work out to be close to R20 000, so for a pair you looking at close to R50 000, not bad price actually, gotta wait another couple years for that type of income though=)

I agree, those ones posted are real nice.

Unfortunately I can't send pics from mt work server, but I would like to add :

In 1st place :

Adult Male Chinese Water Dragon in mating season

followed very closely by :

Fiji Banded Iguana

and a very, very close third :

Red Iguana
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other...

Thats the one Donatelo. Some can be quite striking..
@ Buck: Thats quite the pricetag. BV, had a thread about them awhile back. Aren't there any that could be sourced locally?

Those were beaded lizards of BV, they beautiful lizards and are cousins of the Gila's, same venom in fact - which is a bastard, won't kill but you will suffer for days - but I would far rather get a pair of Gila's (not that I would turn down a pair if yours mate BV, nudge, nudge, wink, wink). The male beaded lizards do an amazing dance when fighting for a female during mating season, quite a site!!!

I have being told there are a few around on the market, but this is only allegedly, I would love to get them breeding in SA but to get them to breed is another story all together. That actually isn't really a heavy price tag for importing, when you ask some people how much they paid to get top end ball pythons into SA originally this price is rather low.

It might sound strange but you are not allowed to export Gilas out of America. The states that they occur in do not allow them to be exported so forget about that. If you can source them in Canada or Europe then you will be able to import those however they cost a bit more than what they would in the States. The paperwork on these will be suspect however.
It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Those who are afraid to ask are ashamed of learning.
