Homemade Crested Gecko Diet?

Postby moey » Wed Feb 26, 2014 3:08 pm

Hi. I'm planning on getting a Crested Gecko, and I just wanted to know if anyone knows of a homemeade diet that doesn't cause MBD?

I know you can buy the Crested Gecko Diet, but is there an alternative homemade diet I can make that's more convenient?

Is it possible to feed fruit, veg and crickets/roaches/mealworms daily with a multivitamin and calcium dust daily? Or something similar?

If anyone knows, please help me out.

I would say nothing is more convenient than the Crested gecko diet. You just scoop a bit in a bowl, add water and then it's sorted. Getting the correct ratio would be much harder than to just buy it, but if you really want to Bill Branch had a recipe in one of his books. I'll see if I can find it if you're still thinking of it.

Thank you. That would be helpful. The Calcium:Phosphorous ratio isn't that hard. I have Sugar Gliders, so I'm used to it...

Sorry I took so long. Here it is:
1tablespoon of pureed apricot, papaya, banana or mixed baby food
1 teaspoon of honey
4 drops of liquid bird vitamins
Pinch of vitamin D3 calcium powder
Enough water to get the right consistency

Hope this helps, althought you might get better ones on the internet.

Oh sorry it wasn't Bill Branch that wrote it. Just to correct before someone notices. It was R.D Bartlett's book.

Thanks a mill guys! I also managed to score some Pangea, but just want to make sure there's a back up in case it becomes scarce...

Just reading that recipe ... doesnt banana contain high levels of pottasium? Which I read if given too much could kill them ?
