Nothing special, but for a whole now I have been after a nice close-up of the rostral and head of A. lubricus.

I am visiting southern Nam for the week so I got hold of a Coral for the pics.

Certainly one of the nicer indigenous snakes by looks and most certainly by personality!

Thanx guys. Pity he decided to plunge his head into the dust right before the pics!

Reptile, no lens. I use a compact camera. To be honest I have never had the inclination nor time to do the whole DSLR thing.

Up in northern Namibia again and although I have seen this species a few times, I have never had my camera handy.

Common species, but still as beautiful as ever. Phrynomantis bifasciatus

100% in situ. It was sitting next to a crack in the rock, picking off ants as they are walking past.

I nudged it a bit to get a more "postured" stance.

Pity the flash completely messed up the colour. These are bright orange and gorgeous. Impossible to miss them in the field.

Some of the cutest frogs around. Your flash really messed up the colours.

So I spent two days at Waterberg in central Namibia which is sort of an ecological hotspot. I have been tot the area before targeting Pachydactylus waterbergensis but I have had rotten luck. Pretty much the same thing this time around, but on the last night literally as I was heading home I found a group of two so I am super chuffed to have finally ticked this species off my list! :D

Two adult specimen

I was also targeting Pedioplanis rubens which also only occurs in this very small habitat and found this species too. All and all, a decent two days.

The Chondrodactylus in the area are MUCH larger than what I am used to, but as adults they look identical to the turneri I have seen before, but the juveniles look totally different to C. turneri juveniles, so maybe something for the taxonomists to look into. On a side note, apparently after some revisions/new species, turneri will no longer occur in Namibia, but a few other species will replace what we know as turneri. Will keep you posted.

I would also appreciate any help IDing this skink. I first thought Trachylepis wahlbergii, but now I am leaning towards T. spilogaster. Any thoughts?

Thanx for looking!
